The difference between having a logo and building a brand
by Ces Loftus
The word branding is thrown about a lot but many fail to grasp the difference between having a logo and building a brand. The difference is so vast it could be compared to the running water from your kitchen tap versus the cascading power of one of the worlds largest waterfalls.
Your logo is an important part of your visual brand identity which can consist of a name, sign or symbol, typographic style, colour usage, consistent theme, style, slogan and tag words.
Branding is about the perception of your business. Taking into account how people recognise your brand and how they feel about the business based on the sum of what they see, hear and experience.
Effective brand building is based on a solid brand promise and is about making a connection between the authentic value and qualities of your business and how they are perceived by your target audience.
A consistent business image that engages with and compels your ideal clients is a powerful and influential marketing tool to help you grow your business.
